It’s not every day someone orders a cantilevered dining table…
One of the best parts of my job is getting to work with very cool clients, clients who have vision, want something extraordinary in their lives, and aren’t afraid to take risks.
That perfectly describes two of my all-time favorite clients, both of whom are visionaries in their fields: interior designer Annie Brahler, of Euro-Trash, and Charlie Smith, co-founder and executive producer of No Coast Originals. Charlie, who has extraordinarily great and eclectic taste, hired Annie, who also has impeccably cool taste, to re-do his newly renovated mid-century modern home in St. Louis.
They brought me in to craft the dining room table, and I think it’s one of the coolest tables I’ve ever built. It’s the Charlie Sycamore Slab Dining Table:
The table is made with two giant sister slabs of sustainably harvested, highly figured Sycamore, wall-mounted. Charlie’s dad made the cool front leg.
The table gets a lot of attention, probably as much for the setting as the piece itself. Most recently, it was featured in an article in the April issue of Alive Magazine on very cool homes here in St. Louis:
