Our 2022 Year in Review!

What. A. Year. 2022 marked our 25th year in business. It also marked our busiest year ever, and it’s all thanks to our amazing clients.

Steph and I started the company in October 1997 in DC. In the span of a few months, I graduated from law school, got engaged, passed the bar, got a job as a trust and estates attorney, bought a house, got married, and started Stine Woodworking, LLC. I worked all day in the law office and then worked in the evenings in the little wood shop in the basement of our town house.

Our first customers were friends from law school, for whom I made humidors. That quickly transitioned to making bar tops, shelves, and furniture for Steph’s bars and restaurants, and woodwork for her friends and colleagues in the industry. That led to custom work for architects, designers, and friends, and it was all word of mouth.

Early milestones including renovating an IM Pei house, working with Robert Kennedy, Hugh Newell Jacobson, the owners of Crate & Barrel, and more. Once we got settled in the St. Louis area, things really took off.
